It’s an old adage, but a true one, that often the simplest solutions are the best. At American Green International we believe that affordable, resilient, culture appropriate technologies can transform developing communities by improving living conditions.   Earlier this year we tested our concept by bringing a few hundred solar light bulbs to an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The overwhelmingly positive response illuminated the power of something as simple as light in a country ravaged by disaster, disease, and poverty. American Green’s Gift of Light campaign means to provide light where there is none, or where the alternative is expensive and polluting kerosene. TED TALK Just Released

Leah Quintal, our Program and Outreach Coordinator was an honored speaker at this year's 2011 TEDx Asheville talks. Leah spoke passionately about the Gift of Light for Haiti program and our opportunity to impact women living in tent cities in Haiti through something so simple as LIGHT. TED talks are currently the most downloaded video cast in the US featuring any “great idea worth spreading.'
